Accounting Assistant

Copper Valley Telecom is currently seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team!

This position may be responsible for any of the following: processing accounts payable, preparing and processing payroll, maintaining the general ledgers, maintaining complete and accurate work orders, and reconciling and preparing inventory records and journal entries.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Prior accounting experience and education preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Skill in operating Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Ability to perform six digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations at average or better speeds
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a minimum amount of errors

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Preferred qualifications include: four years accounting and/or bookkeeping experience with emphasis on general ledger, payroll and accounts payable.

Systems Administrator

Copper Valley Solutions, as a member of the Copper Valley Telecom family of companies, is currently seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team!

This position assists with the operation, maintenance and upgrades of CVS internet access network, maintains and upgrades hardware and applications systems, and ensures security and integrity of all systems.

Additionally this position will:

  • Research and prepare cost estimates and recommendations for new services and enhancement for CVS internet access network.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure adequate equipment, bandwidth and other resources are in service.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of systems at customer premises; meet with customers to identify needs and requirements; evaluate, design and prepare quotes for equipment and services; and implement systems and services on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure all network and security concerns are addressed.
  • Assist with research and recommendations for new business lines. Conduct analyses of potential services and forwards to management for review. Assist in the development of business and marketing efforts for new and existing product lines. Assist with policy development for administering new and existing services.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, components, and protocols including Ethernet, Windows, UNIX, Linux, switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, subnettings, DNS, IIS, Apache, S MTP, ATM, TCP/IP, xDSL and HTML. Knowledge of personal computer components such as hard drives, random access memory chips, video cards and processor chips.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field plus four years progressive experience in computer operations, internet service provision, network administration, and/or computer programming. An equivalent combination of college study and experience may also be accepted. Microsoft MSCE, Solaris SCNA, and/or Cisco CCNA certification preferred.

Combination/Central Office Technician

Copper Valley Telecom is a progressive communications company offering a variety of services in the Prince William Sound & Copper River Basin regions of Alaska. We are currently seeking a Combination Technician to join our team. This position is based out of our Glennallen, Alaska office and is responsible for installation and repair of telephone plant facilities. Selected applicant will maintain, expand, replace and repair all Central Office facilities required to provide service to customers in this district.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance/troubleshooting of circuits and installation/turn-up on vendor specific internet/voice networks including associated wiring/equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains Central Office switching systems. Queries system for status reports and trouble isolation.
  • Interact/assist other Technical personnel in the performance of their duties when requested.
  • Ensures functionality of newly installed Central Office equipment by performing acceptance tests as appropriate.

Job Requirements

  • Education/experience of 4+ years beyond high school or 8000 hours of documented practical experience in Central Office activities.
  • Working knowledge of Adtran, Fujitsu, AFC, Metaswitch, Turin, Occam and alarming platforms.
  • Working knowledge to interface with equipment utilizing CLI and/or GUI.
  • Ability to work onsite at remote CVT facilities or proposed facilities in areas necessitating travel by foot, all terrain vehicles, pickup trucks, boats, and single engine aircraft in varying often extreme climatic conditions independently.
  • Basic electricity training/certification and maintain batteries/rectifiers in the CO's.
  • Read, interpret and correct wiring and circuit layout records.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office and interfacing with Vendor equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Prior experience as a customer facing telecom operations technician.
  • ADSL/VDSL/AE/T1/Ethernet/SONET/GPON troubleshoot/installation/repair experience.
  • IP (L2/L3) switching and routing.
  • Optical transport and FTTX experience.
  • IP/PBX experience.
